An Olympus OM1 manual with matchstick metering replaced it for my first camera. How I wish there were a digital camera specifically designed to be manual focus, AWB, ISO, Aperture, Shutter to teach the basics and just have fun with – no touch screen – with dials and focus rings.

I have a Nikon D3500, and thanks to your suggestions, was able to tweak my aperture settings to get nearly identical shots as my auto settings. I am so glad I found your blog, and will definitely follow your recommendations to hone my photography skills.

I started in photography about 70 years ago; I was around 12. I learned standard f/ stops from my Weston light meter. Your article states it was for beginners, but has an incorrect number.- f/2.2. Beginners should have the CORRECT standards to build their understanding of the exposure triangle. Please change f/2.2 to the proper f/2.

1/60″ is generally the sync speed for flash photography, something I do not normally do. Perhaps you left flash on. Make sure it is turned off and try again.
